Pre-Project Reflection-
As I have said in my abstract, I have always enjoyed the STEM areas of study (science, technology, engineering, and math). Specifically, I am passionate about math and physics. I could not think of a better way to complete my EDGE Project than through doing something that I love. I want everyone to love these subjects like I love them. My hope is that when these students are going to college that at least one of them decides to go into an area of STEM. It would be amazing to create lessons that are memorable enough for students to remember them long down the road. I want them to associate math and science with fun memories.
While teaching the students, I hope that I make this experience valuable. I hope that each student will learn something they are excited to go home and share with their parents or siblings. I hope I will be able to see excitement in the faces of the kids. I do not want to bore them. If I see boredom in the expressions of the students I will talk to the teacher to see if she has any advice on how I can change my teaching style, though I do not anticipate this to be a problem.
Overall, I am really excited for this experience. I am looking forward to getting into the classroom to share what I love. I am a bit nervous about how successfully I will be able to execute my lessons, but I think that with careful and well thought out planning I will be about to enter the classroom feeling confident and prepared. I hope that I will learn from each lesson and be able to improve as I go. I am grateful that I have been able to plan an EDGE Project that integrates my current passions and future goals.
